Through powerful and effective advocacy, the Association of Former Intelligence Officers' [AFIO] Office of Government Affairs advises on and supports federal policies that promote a sound, reasoned approach to intelligence, counterintelligence and counterterrorism national policy, and encourages the funding, staffing and support of educational programs, seminars, publications and conferences bringing together government officials, seasoned intelligence professionals, professors teaching the subject at the university level, students, and an interested, informed public, to examine national issues and proposed legislation in this field.
